Need the locks changed?

Moved in, lost a set of keys, or someone still has one who shouldn't. We carry the common locks on the van, so most changes are done on the first visit.

How it works

Back inside in three steps

  1. 1

    Call us

Tell Alisha what has happened and your postcode. Calls are answered day and night.

  2. 2

    A locksmith on the way

We send the nearest free locksmith, usually with you in 10–15 minutes. You get the exact time when he accepts.

  3. 3

    Agree the price first

The locksmith checks the door and confirms the final price before work starts. You decide.

What happens when you call

Changing a lock is a half-hour job when the right lock is on the van, and the prices below include the lock. What decides the figure is the type: a standard nightlatch or euro cylinder, an anti-snap cylinder for a uPVC or composite door, or a British Standard mortice for a wooden front door, which is what most home insurance policies ask for.

If you have just moved in, it is worth changing the front door and doing any second door at the same time: extra locks fitted on the same visit are cheaper than a second call-out.

No call-out fee: if we cannot open your door or fix the lock, there is nothing to pay. See the full price list.

Which lock do you need?

  • Wooden front door with a keyhole below the handle: usually a mortice lock. If your insurer mentions BS3621, this is the one.
  • White or grey plastic or composite door with a long handle: a euro cylinder. Ask for anti-snap, it is the one thieves cannot break by snapping.
  • Door that locks when you pull it shut: a nightlatch, the Yale-type. Cheapest to change.

Questions

Lock change, answered

If yours isn't here, call and ask. The people who answer know the work.

Do you carry the locks with you?

The common ones, yes: nightlatches, euro cylinders in several lengths, and British Standard mortices. If your door takes something unusual we will tell you on the call rather than turn up without it.

My insurer says I need a British Standard lock.

That is BS3621. The technician quotes it on site before fitting. It has the British Standard kitemark stamped on the faceplate, so you can show your insurer.

Can you key several doors alike?

Yes, so one key opens the front and back door. Tell us on the call so the locksmith brings a matched set.

I'm a landlord with a tenant change.

Common job. If you want the same locksmith each time and a monthly invoice rather than paying at the door, say so and we will set that up.
